Conveyancing, and the home buying and selling process, is at a turning point. Expected policy reform is accelerating, technology is reshaping how firms operate, and the pressure on practitioners has never been greater.

The BLG Conveyancing Conference & Soirée is where you can come to discover the latest and, importantly, have your say!

Join us on 17th June 2026 at Regent's University London, set within the grounds of Regent's Park, for a full day of professional development, networking, and industry insights alongside fellow conveyancers, solicitors, and law firm leaders from across England and Wales.

Confirmed sessions include:

The Future of Conveyancing: In conversation with Mark Evans, President of The Law Society of England ans Wales :- As his presidency year draws to a close, Mark Evans joins Bold Legal Group founder and CEO Rob Hailstone for a live Q&A reflecting on his time leading the Law Society of England and Wales. Mark will share his perspective on the issues shaping the profession, the challenges facing conveyancers, and what he believes the future holds for the sector. Delegates will also have the opportunity to put their own questions directly to Mark, making this one of the most open and candid sessions of the day.

Referral Fees: The CLC Research – Key Insights :- Referral fees remain one of the most controversial topics in the conveyancing sector, raising ongoing questions around transparency, client and competitive fairness. Representatives from the Council for Licensed Conveyancers will be presenting the findings of their recent research, setting out their thoughts about next steps. Joining them will be two guest panellists, one supporting the case for referral fees, one against, ensuring a balanced and open debate. Whether you currently operate within a referral arrangement or have concerns about the wider market implications, this session will provide important context, clarity, and perspectives from across the spectrum.

The Government Home Buying and Selling Consultation: What comes next? :- The Government’s consultation into the home buying and selling process generated significant interest across the sector. This session will present the findings and what they mean in practice. Tom Treadwell, Strategy Adviser within the Home Ownership Division at MHCLG, works across a range of policy areas including upfront information, property agents, consumer education, and end-to-end digitalisation. He will set out the Government’s conclusions and its plans for reform. An essential session for any conveyancer wanting to understand the direction of policy travel and what changes may be coming down the line.

SDLT: To Outsource or not to Outsource :- We are in the middle of the Tax Adviser registration period. The big question is, once registered how do you proceed? Keep it fully in house, outsource complex transactions to experts, or outsource fully. This panel session brings together experts who will unpick the latest guidance and what it means in practice. The discussion will also weigh up the pros and cons of outsourcing SDLT advice, examining where the risks lie, what the benefits can be, and how firms can ensure they are protecting both their clients and themselves. A practical session for any practice handling residential or mixed-use transactions.

Fewer requisitions help conveyancers increase profitability, strengthen their reputation, and deliver faster registrations for customers and lenders :- Minimising requisitions is fundamental to reducing time and costs for conveyancers post completion registrations, while strengthening a high-performance reputation with lenders. Firms that consistently achieve lower requisition rates benefit from smoother transactions, improved client experience, stronger operational efficiency, and greater confidence from lender panels.

Drawing on the latest HMLR data, this session will explore the most common types of requisitions, the factors that contribute to them, and the practical steps firms can take to improve submission quality and reduce avoidable delays from technology to free HMLR Training.

Lenders will discuss how they view requisition performance in volume and speed of answers as part of broader quality and risk assessment, and why strong requisition management and reduction is increasingly recognised as a marker of an efficient, well-run conveyancing practice.

A practical, data-led and solutions-focused session for fee earners, team leaders and compliance professionals alike.

An AI for detail: Intelligent CDD for the future of compliance :- As regulatory requirements evolve and fraud becomes more sophisticated, manual onboarding processes are reaching their limit. In this session, Jack Bidgood explores the transition toward intelligence-led Client Due Diligence and the role of automation in modern conveyancing. The discussion will focus on how firms can embrace intelligent tools for complex tasks, such as Source of Funds verification and AML screening, while maintaining essential ‘human-in-the-loop’ oversight. Attendees will see how an intelligent approach to CDD helps firms bridge the gap between compliance and efficiency, reducing the manual burden while ensuring no detail is missed.

What’s the reality of digitising conveyancing? :- Every day brings a new headline on digitising the industry – but what’s the truth? Join us for this timely discussion that will look at the reality of digital conveyancing and what it really means for your firm. With perspectives from conveyancing practice, regulation, and professional indemnity, we’ll address the realities of where technology is delivering value, as well as where challenges remain.
